We finally got our schedule set and were visited by District 7850 Governor Larry Vars. The Burlington Club got in there as his 41st of the 41 clubs in the District to be honored by he, and his wife, Joan.
Along with the 2018-19 Banner, "BE THE INSPIRATION" neckties (what are those?) were handed out to President Joe and key officers who would dare to wear them. (Actually they're pretty sharp with Rotary Blue.)
Of course there was business to attend to, and the Gov. sailed right into an update of where the key tasks in our Rotary plan fit together.
--The plan that tens of thousands of Rotary members voted to assemble as our work--
The membership noted from Gov. Larry that the six major efforts comprise a "Pyramid of Peace" where the discrete components actually create an overall goal aiming at peace.
  • Fighting disease
  • Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
  • Saving mothers and children
  • Supporting education
  • Growing local economies, and, at the top of the pyramid...
  • Promoting peace (for its own sake, wherever we can -- and through the efforts of all members)
